Needlework began as lead singer/writer, Neil Mihalich's solo project about 5 years ago and continues to evolve year after year. Originally, completely synthesized with simple guitar backround fills, complex drum programming, and the growls of an angry youthful voice, now has transformed into a five piece unit of dedicated musicians, refining the art of chaos, and peace through music. Due to the inability to specify which genre of metal NW is, they have dubbed themselves "Mid-Core". A Needlework concert can be a little confusing to first time listeners. Needlework may be located in the Tampa area, and Tampa is known for death metal, but it sure as hell isn't death metal. (Not that there is anything wrong with that particular genre of music).
Since April of 2004, NW has played numerous shows for hundreds of people at venues such as The Brass Mug, The Pegasus Lounge, The Olympia, Rockerfellas, The Fly, The Clubhouse, and plan to schedule as many more in 2005 as they can.
Needlework is more than just a band, it is a catharsis that frees them of all the things that make people feel small, weak, too human, or too insecure to rise above. We all have something we try to heal, to forget, the past is something that will always be in our memories. For Needlework the most satisfying way to relax is to release it all through the guitars, keyboards, drums, a microphone, and the amplifiers cranked as loud as they can possibly go.
