Biography:
"un_wip" aka kevin by, grew up in trondheim, norway during the late 70's and started playing guitar at the age of 10. he changed to drums around 8 years later but were drawn to electronic music and the growing DAW revolution in 2000. he bought a computer, sampler and a sequencer and started making loops and quirky arrangements inspired by a shitload of artists and other original characters. finally, in january/february 2004, he released his debut EP under the wipthrash moniker through his own little label, WIP recordings, started by him and his architect-buddy, tormod amundsen in bergen. that very year, they also formed WIP "all-star" band Kanagawa doing their live debut at the bergen school of architecture harbour, terrorising students as well as residents near by with a wall of noise. in 2005, they invited local DJ and guitarist henrik svanevik to play with them for their official live debut at the phono festival in early 2006. now their sound had changed from just pure noise terror to moods build up from feedback drones, line6 loops and diverse accoustic instruments like accordion, auto-harp, kalimba and snake flute (to read more about Kanagawa, do a myspace-search). while this was going on, kevin invented another 2 solo monikers; mu'umu'u and kenosis. mu'umu'u being a vehicle for his love for exotic moods and melodies and kenosis for sheer minimalism. wipthrash also took another turn from loopy industrial soundscapes to an attempt at creating a techno/metal crossover. now, why un_wip, you might ask? well, i can't help fidling around with genres and create tunes which don't fit anywhere, so i thought i'd post that stuff up here at myspace for ya'll to enjoy and just maybe, they'll turn up in some form or another on future wipthrash-, kanagawa-, mu'umu'u- or kenosis-releases.
