Biography:
Recorded during the second half of 2004, Greenwich Meantime is a collection of tracks recorded at Matt Giovanangelo's (drummer) 'Tandem' studio. Originally intended as demos for a future recording, these tracks soon relished in the excessive amount of time Matt had to spare while recovering from some minor surgery. Soon it was out of control and seemed almost pointless to go and re-record material that was already feeling dated. Time to move on.......or so they thought. Come December and this tight knit group of twenty one year olds were about to get a swift lesson in love. Jake, the bands guitarist, could no longer bear his transcontinental relationship and announced that he was going to spend two months in London with his (at the time) girlfriend. Another setback, but at least he vowed to return, so again there was more time to polish the recordings.
True to his word Jake returned from his travels and at long last they could finally do something, anything. Now back on the local-circuit Grand Central played some amazing shows and reminded the fans that despite their relatively young age they were still a force to be recognised.
Vastly different from the bands debut release, Freshman. This new collection of work has captured a transitional moment for Grand Central as they matured beyond the high school band that would win over crowds with approachable hook-laden-pop with radio favourites such as 'Nine Times Out Of Ten' and 'Miles Away'. Greenwich Meantime is edgier, darker and a much more defining movement towards more traditional rock yet still holds onto the melodic signature, well crafted song-writing and lyricism that the band had always displayed.
