Biography:
In the state of hardcore today, it's hard to find a band without a four word name seemed to be ripped from the title of a late 80's art film. The breakdowns, off-chords, and battle-drum double bass scream cliche. It's just hard to find a band that still keeps the melody with the intensity. Enter Alter Boy.. Formed in 2001 in Dayton, Ohio from the remnants of The Hardly Vincent, Alter Boy brings elements of screamo, hardcore, emo, and punk into their sound to create a heavy yet melodic combination. Their live show is an energetic one full of thrashing, jumping, bashing with instruments (not always intentionally), and broken strings, guitars, sticks, and everything in between. The band has gone through several name and lineup changes to end up where they are now, and it's only been from hours and days and weeks and months of hard work that they've gotten here. They've played with bands like The Blood Violets, Lightweight Holiday, Torn From Red, and others. And they have plenty of big local talent to draw inspiration from, with bands like Hawthorne Heights and Dead Poetic hailing from from their hometown. Alter Boy is agressive guitars, melodies that draw beauty, screaming that will rip your face off, and intense vocals.
