Yes, 405lbs. Four 45s a side. That is a lot of weight, but you really can go heavy on shrugs when you build them up. I don't think I could do that right now, but it is a good benchmark. Remember though that if you are just going for aesthetics weight doesn't mean anything.

okay, I think for good measure I will start with 200lbs tonight and see where I go. I ended up removing the fly machine from my circuit so this will be a great addition in its place.

shrugs are overall better than the standard upright row for those that have injury prone shoulders. they're a little less intensive but still a very effective move. also, use dumbbells.
