do you calculate pot odds when you play? If you don't, you probably lose often.

Kinda like how I used to lose all the time.

But now I'm studying pot odds, and I'm going to learn the shit out of it.

Nope. I figure out what kind of hands can beat me, but not much else. I do ok for myself.

that's usually what i do. i haven't read too much on pot odds, my ex has read every book under the sun about poker and can do them in his head, but somehow, i had to teach him about statistics for a class...blows my mind, but yeah, do what uncle nick does.

thats just a small piece of the pot odds pie. but thats good at least. i do that, and I also take into consideration the amount in the pot, and what the bet is. Then I compare the two, and decide whether its worth it or not to make the call.

Of course I calculate them shits. How long you been playing? You should use the pot odds along with the number of outs you have to determine whether you should fold out or stick around in a hand.

They're not a surefire way to win money (there really is none). But they a nice piece of information you should use when making decisions at the table.

exactly. I was never aware of pot odds until a couple of days ago. I've been playing online for 2 days straight trying to figure if I have good pot odds in every hand. I make smarter decision more often. Your stupid if you play this game without thinking of the odds.

you can calculate odds...but you don't have to go into to the point where it sounds like you are.

you just need to know general odds...not counting each percentage and crap....i've played hundreds of games and don't bother any more with in depth calcs.

I still haven't checked out any other sites other than pokerroom.com

You play for real money? Or just play?

And yea, you don't need to know the EXACT odds - especially cuz odds aren't definite anyway. That just bogs you down in the math. But it helps to have an idea.

I'm using play money now to get used to the speed and look/feel of the sites. I will be depositing over the next few weeks.

I plan on first sitting in at ring games. .50/1.00 NL probably. then i definately want to start playing some satellite tourneys.
