1960s have G12T-75s, not vintage 30s. The higher end Marshall cabs have Greenbacks. I'm not sure any come stock with vintages 30s.

Mesas have vintage 30s, but I'm pretty sure they're slightly different.

I have a pair of the "special" vintages 30s in my Avatar. They sound super duper.

I know what both sound like as I have both up at the studio.

who sticks with stock? seriously?

Only the uninformed buy new Marshall cabs. G12T-75s are pretty meh.

What did you do to the V30s to make them special?

They cost the same.

They've got a few slight differences in the cone shape that make a bit of a difference in the sound. I'm under the impression that the ones I got are the modified v30 that Mesa orders.

The only other difference is that they're pre-broken-in. You usually have to get a good number of hours of playing on speakers before they start to sound their best. The guy at Avatar gets that out of the way for you in his "Hellatone" series. They're just a few select Celestion speakers that he runs something through for 15 hours straight.
