any recommendations for places either online or stores to check out for benches and free weights?

i looked into Dick's Sporting and found a decent bench for $120. Their plates run about $5 more than the weight except for the 10 and 5lbs. They are $12 and $7 respectively. They don't seem to offer bars though.

Also, i've never used them but would anyone recommend the selectech type dumbbells. I'm considering them only for space reasons.

that was my next research step. But i figured right off the bat i'd look into what stores are selling their shit for to compare to what some bloke on the internet is going to charge me.

craigslist has done my dad very well as far as home workout equipment goes. from craigslist over the last few years, we've picked up either a TuffStuff or Body Solid squat cage (no labels on it but its one of the two), TuffStuff hack squat, a nice dumbell rack, a second flat bench, hex trap bar, weighted situp machine, various free weights, some dumbells, a custom built log, and a custom built sled
