it's not close at all.

CAD is for designing models. programming makes the computer do whatever you want it to.

 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
        ListBox1.Items.Clear()
        Me.Height = 226
        ' file search
        Dim this_bill As String = TextBox1.Text
        Dim strWorkingDir = "I:\EDI\Scibal\Bill Review\"
        Dim strDats As String()
        Dim strFile As String
        Dim sr As StreamReader
        strDats = Directory.GetFiles(strWorkingDir, "mb*.dat")
        If strDats.Length > 0 Then
            For Each strFile In strDats
                sr = File.OpenText(strFile)
                If sr.ReadToEnd.IndexOf(this_bill) > 0 Then
                    ListBox1.Items.Add(strFile)
                Else
                End If
            Next
        End If
        If ListBox1.Items.Count = 0 Then
            fillTable()
            Me.Height = 469
End If
End Sub
