my director is a really strict vegan, to the point of packing his own food even for business trips. He also was pretty against smoking, the point that whenever people would go to the designated smoking area (across from his office) he would sometimes tap his key on the window to make them look and he would give them the 'shame on you' hand gesture. I called off work Monday as I was sick, so when I came in yesterday he came into my office to get me caught up on the meetings and such, and one of the topics he updated me on was that he started smoking again (after quitting over 7 years ago). I have to give him credit, he went around to everyone he ever gave a hard time about smoking to, and told them he now smokes and gave them the opportunity to rib him, and I certainly wont judge him over it but it sorta does change the way I look at him just a little. the main reason for this was that he made it a rule in our department that no two employees could go out and smoke at the same time as it made it look like people were 'hanging out' in 'packs' and he didnt want that kind of image to be associated with our department. Now, every time he needs a smoke he seeks out these same people to ask them to go out and smoke with him. there have been instances where he has been hypocritical, this being one of them, and although im in no position to correct him it makes him look like an ass. Just a funny observation and I'm a little bored right now.
