I think you'd do best with a pair of leather bag gloves. They go for like $30 - $40. Don't cheap out on the neoprene shit. You'll tear them in half a workout. Spend the $15 extra dollars at Dicks or Sports Authority.

If you are going to be doing a lot of heavy bag work I would suggest wraps as well. Even if you use bag gloves you should use wraps. I have nice leather Everlast bag gloves that have held up really well for years.

modell's has Everlast rather cheap.

stay away from their "Mixed Martial Arts" gear though. That stuff is crap. Their boxing gloves though aren't the best Everlast has to offer but great for what you need them for.

Make sure you get handwraps though too. Your wrists/knuckles will thank you.

some other advice... make sure you wipe the bag down prior to use. i know a guy that got herpes from using a heavy bag right after someone else.
