they have several prospects better than the ones they gave up
and the fact you think hitting 250 is instanly a bad thing makes me want to think you dont know a whole lot about player value
im not necessarily saying he's bad player. im just saying he bats 250 and has a weak obp.
jackson isnt your best prospect? and you have several who are better?
jesus montero, mark melancon, juan miranda, etc
outlook on jackson is awfully torn. he seems like quite a coin toss, with no push to upside or downside, and the hype about him made his stock high, so he was chosen to go. phil coke gives up too many home runs, so he was shown the door. ian kennedy is a national league 5th starter at best. also kind of a douche. later. the yankees seem to have made out pretty well.
granderson's numbers this year are indicative of one thing - trying to hit more home runs in a big ballpark. strikeouts up, obp down, flyballs up, average down, home runs up, its a pretty easy pattern to follow. he won't have to try so hard to hit HR's in NY and could hopefully go back to being a more patient contact hitter. he's a good asset if he re-adjusts himself. i'm pretty excited about this deal and having him on the yankees.
