I moved to NC from PA about 6 months ago and besides a few random obvious hick encounters, nothing got to me until this afternoon.
I went to a mall to get an Ipod Touch for my girl for Christmas and on my way in, I dropped some one dollar bills in a salvation army bucket. Now it's about 60 degrees out, which is fantastic after spending 25 years with cold winters, so I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt. A Suffocation shirt with some derogatory religious commentary on the back to be exact. As I drop money in the salvo bucket this dude behind says "What do think you're doing wearing a shirt like donating to the salvation army?"
Long story short, some words were exchanged, intelligent on my part, not so intelligent on his. I understand the salvation army may have some affiliations with Christianity, and the holiday as a whole is obviously Christian, but I don't see any reason to be an asshole towards me about it. I'm sure I've purchased music from musicians whose ideological mindsets I don't agree with. Does anyone see this as hypocritical? That's all the dude kept saying over and over again, not really offering much else to say.
