Hipster indie music isn't really my things, but I actually like this album a lot. It's not really surfer rock despite what the band's name might suggest (and some of their lyrics), although I do think it's good summer music. It's one of those albums that you end up learning the riffs and hooks for when noodling around on a guitar--which maybe isn't the best way to describe it. It's just energetic, melodic, a little bit California, a little bit West Africa, mostly indie rock. good stuff.
probably falls somewhere in the middle of a specturm that goes sonic youth - velvet underground - the pixies - weezer- vampire weekend. I realize none of that really appeals to the demo of this website, but if you have closet interest in any of those bands I think you'll like this stuff.
