Yeah, he's no joke. I think if Howard didn't go down on the DL he'd probably be up there right now with him. Definitely not for AVG, but HR and RBI. Hell, Howard is still third in the NL for RBIs, after being down for over two weeks.

here's a twist - zack grienke should have won the AL MVP last year. he had a WAR of 9.0, which is nuts
because most sports writers would never vote a pitcher for the mvp unless he has a ridiculous bob gibson/steve carlton/roger clemens type year
sportswriters also gave justin morneau the mvp in a year where he was actually like the 20th best player in the AL so obviously the whole process is flawed and retarded
