I quit smoking 5 weeks ago, no sweat, tried to follow it up with quitting coffee and lasted about a day. I've tried numerous times since then, getting no further than 3 or so days and then falling into a massive caffeine relapse. Just curious as to weather anyone has tips or knows how long the agony lasts.

I've given up caffeine in general a handful of times for various reasons. each time the headaches stopped for me after just under a week. I also would chug water like a fiend to flush any lingering byproducts out, but I'm not sure if that helps or if it's even scientifically sound. I also found that after a couple days I always start sleeping like I've never slept before, which is awesome. I've cut wayyyyy back on all caffeine recently, but there are definitely still days I need a Starbucks run to feel like a human being

Yeah my hugest problem is having to sleep 16 hours a day when I do finally man up and quit... at least I have the time to do that if need be. Under a week though, huh? That gives me a lot of hope - definitely heeding your advice. Thanks =)

I give up coffee for a month once or twice a year just to make sure I don't become too dependent on it. I don't typically get the headaches and whatnot- I am just thrown off because its part of my morning routine to make myself a cup of coffee and drink it on my drive into work.

I should have started doing that at an early age. The amount I drink sends me somewhere in between extreme insomnia and almost panic at times, so it's probably a good idea for someone like me to cool it a bit.

Cold turkey sucks but I'm one of those people who can't taper down at all. I appreciate the insight!

I've been caffeine free for about a decade maybe? Once you get over the initial withdrawal, its easy.

Wow, that's pretty impressive. I want to be able to say the same in the future. Definitely feel better about tackling this

Maybe I have a highly addictive personality, but it's so hard for me to stop. Quitting smoking kinda sucked too for like 4 days. The jitters have been getting to me lately so I hope I can be done with the caffeine.

When I was in school I drank coffee/soda like crazy, and when I would go home for breaks and stuff I would sorta just stop and get the worst head aches ever. But at one point I had stopped drinking caffeine except maybe one drink with some in it once every other week, and the addiction wasn't super overwhelming.

I don't get a boost from caffeine.. I don't understand it. My wife literally can't move in the morning unless she has coffee, me.. I'm just like yeah, this is hot and dump it out.
