Has anyone else had this? I had it on tap for the first time today, and I must say it totally lives up to the hype of being the holy grail of IPAs. So unbelievably well balanced. Very thick, foamy head (giggity). Very crisp and piney hops, and nice and dry on the back end. Probably the best beer I've ever had.

It's super rare, so if you stumble upon any definitely get it. It's almost always gone within a few days of getting tapped somewhere because people find out where it is and go get it.

It's a double IPA from Russian River. There's also an even more rare brew they make called Pliny the Younger, which is a triple.

there's a couple places around my way that always have it plus blind pig and damnation. obviously, proximity to the brewery helps.

Yeah it's super hard to find out here. This place was actually out by 9pm. They tapped it at 11am lol.

Its a good beer but...

Its over hyped and hard to get around the area and also over priced because of its hype.

tons of other Double IPAs around these days with less of the baggage attached.

Sure there are tons of double IPAs, and plenty of good ones. But Pliny is easily the best I've had, and trust me I've had lots. Also, I don't think it's over priced at all. I paid $7 for a draught at a place that usually charges about $6 for a double IPA anyway. Saying "it's a good beer, but..." is like saying "Tom Brady is a good quarterback, but there are lots of other quarterbacks in the NFL."
