supposedly it's coming out early next year. they don't have a label lined up yet but i wouldn't be surprised if it were on earache or even relapse.

the drummer from aborted is playing on it but mike amott isn't.

i'm skeptical on this.

here's a link to a small interview jeff walker did.

Skeptical is putting it mildly.

Before this news came out it was rumored that Matthias of Heaven Shall Burn was to play drums but he denied it. That would've been interesting.

I don't really think this record is going to be good. And this is coming from someone who didn't outright hate Swansong.

i liked swansong. i dunno, i think writing it off right away is stupid but i don't think it's going to be the same carcass that everyone loved.

I HIGHLY doubt it will be Earache. All he did was trash the fuck out of them when I went to the reunion show in NYC. Pretty much every between song rant was about how terrible of a label they are and how they can go fuck themselves.

Carcass has revealed that their forthcoming album will be titled Surgical Steel. In a new interview with Terrorizer, the group announced that they are currently wrapping up mixing for the effort with producer Colin Richardson (Cannibal Corpse, Napalm Death).

Guitarist Bill Steer told Terrorizer:

"It definitely sounds like Carcass. I think we just generally by accident captured the flavour of past music that we have done and you can't help but push it forward. We have really been creative and when you are looking at things like guitar harmonies, it's way more adventurous on this record. It's not just parallel harmony like we did in the past, things branch off in different directions."

While the final track listing hasn't been confirmed, the following songs recorded include:

The Master Butcher's Apron
The Granulating Dark Satanic Mills
A Congealed Clot Of Blood
A Wraith In The Apparatus
316l Grade Surgical Steel
Cadaver Pouch Conveyor System
Captive Bolt Pistol
Intensive Battery Brooding
None Compliance To Astm F899-12 Standard
Mount Of Execution
1985/Thrasher's Abattoir
Unfit For Human Consumption
Zochrot
Livestock Marketplace

Song titles look awesome, we'll see I guess.

I'm going to give it a chance. A more recent interview says that they originally weren't planning on doing it but Steer said that he was jamming new tunes and he found himself writing Carcass-like material. He got with Walker and they practiced. Both said they would have thrown out the entire album if it didn't capture the Carcass feel. Apparently it did and the new album will be upon us soon.

I'm betting it's going to lean towards the end of the career and it will be more melodic and less grind. A mixture between Heartwork and Swansong.

I'd rather them just grind it the fuck out. I'd love to hear a quality produced record in vain of their early material.

That's kind of fucked up that he just quit in the middle of mixing an album but on the flipside, it's probably better to have someone that is commited to it handle the project than have some dude halfass it just to be done with it.
