As Trump's cabinet takes form it is being revealed as the most right wing in U.S. history, no exaggeration, and will be working in conjunction with a Republican Senate, House, and most likely soon a slanted Supreme Court, all under a unified agenda. There will be little recourse for even people with centrist politics. The left as a political entity here has already shifted pretty far to the right in the past few decades; it will now lurch even further right and may become unrecognizable as left at all. Which means that actual people on the actual left will become even more disenfranchised and unrepresented in a government and courts following a vector tacking hard to the right and likely once again using the same old legal mechanisms like drug laws, immigration, etc., to repress people. There was a pretty noticeable 'vibe' change between the 'freewheeling', grunge-soundtracked Clinton 90's and the nationalistic, 'proud to be an American' Bush 00's, and Trump's cabinet is already far to the right of Bush's.
