De Niro’s comments should come as no surprise, given what he’s said about Trump in the past. Earlier this year, De Niro dismissed the president as a “fucking idiot” and a “fucking fool,” then hit him with a new nickname: “jerk-off-in-chief.” He also said Trump had “sullied the presidency,” called America under Trump “a tragic dumbass comedy” and raged about the “bullshit” cuts to arts programs that were proposed in the president’s budget. Last month, De Niro reaffirmed his belief that Trump was “still an idiot” and vowed he wouldn’t let up.

just because he's a celebrity doesn't mean he doesn't have an opinion or a right to speak it

Whiskey is confused about what newsworthy means.

Deniro called the president a jerk off in Chief. I'd read that news, yeah.

I dont think celebrities should sound off about anything. They aren’t celebrities for that, they are paid to act, not use their platform to leverage the media for their own opinions. The president is the president regardless of his celebrity status beforehand. Reagan was a celebrity too, had zero to do with his presidency. I just think the press has bigger fish to fry rather than quoting every word uttered about politics by some disconnected multi millionaire.

the press doesn't have bigger fish to fry, they want clicks and views so they report every single thing they thing will obtain that goal. it's all about web traffic, ad revenue and money.

as for celebrities being paid for whatever - they are paid to work, sure, but they have free time like everyone else and if they want to use that time to talk shit on the president who are you to tell them they shouldn't? they didn't sign some sort of agreement when they became a celebrity that all they should do is act. that's fucking ridiculous, your point is ridiculous. we're all allowed to use our various platforms to say whatever, and they should as well. they just happen to have larger audiences.
