I find this quite odd. I have listened to music very loud, every day for hours for 23 years, worked in machine shops, shot guns and been to hundreds of concerts. I have never once worn ear plugs.

Me too and I hear yanny. I’m fucking confused by this conclusion

laurel, but i know someone named laurel so i figure there is something fucked up in my brain that just answered the question for me and my hearing system processed something else entirely.

perhaps related thing about hearing damage and how you hear things: when you hear yourself from a recording, like your voicemail or in a video, how do you sound? in my head i sound pretty normal, but it is confusing to hear me speak for more than one recorded sentence because my voice is a bit higher and just sounds too different

I certainly have hearing damage, but my bf has much worse hearing damage than I do so I guess I could buy into that theory.

That said - people are HEATED about this at work today. I came in at 3 AM to cover London and having the rest of the group show up at 8 ish arguing about Yanny and Laurel really harshed my mellow.

I read it's something about frequency. Both words are being said at the same time at different frequencies so it's whatever your brain chooses to pick up on first.

I'm over it.
