Its funny because I never said I didnt agree with that statement. I only talked about ways that a person could possibly make things work on a lower salary and then talked about how businesses in this area have a hard time getting goid employees.

This is victim blaming. Go tell a battered wife how if she better pleased her husband maybe he wouldn't hit her so hard.

Fuck off, twat.

I agree with all of what you've been saying here but "a wife and a baby"? I know it sounds harsh, especially given the internment camps currently being established by this shit administration at the southern border, but maybe "don't have kids if you're poor" would also be a good approach to the problem on a personal level. Two working adults (without a baby) could afford that apartment way better, even at what is definitely an exploitativly low wage. (The state minimum wage in most states is even lower.)

But the Abrahamic ideology regarding procreation (every sperm is sacred) perpetuates the poverty cycle as much as anything else. Family planning goes a long way toward economic stability, but legacied-in orthodox christian, jewish, and muslim traditional values, even among the 'non-practicing', often push back against understanding its crucial importance, and create a psychological and moral disconnect for people forming personal family planning attitudes from within these cultural traditions where sex is considered 'dirty' unless it is set on the righteous path toward baby-making. Both women and men are still indoctrinated with the notion that they are inferior or inadequate if they don't have children in many of the subcultures most overlapping with poverty, and thus the cycle continues.

It is also hard to make the argument for supply and demand capitalism on the one hand and against wage injustice on the other when capitalism is by its very nature exploitation. The progressive socialist/capitalist hybrid which makes things like university education free to all is an improvement and would do more to lift people out of poverty, but people are ironically nowhere near educated enough in this country to even comprehend how or why that would work let alone implement it. So, once again, a catch-22 wrapped in another catch-22.
