it only takes a few hours to chase a deer, not 12. in Born To Run they cover this guy who lives with african bushmen or something who actually do chase deer to eat and i think they go for like 4 hours.

Yeah exhaustion hunting was real because humans for some reason have better endurance.

a lot of it comes down to how we're one of the few things where breathing isn't directly tied to other bodily movements. deer or any of the four-legged animals of that sort of structure breathe in and out with each gallop. running at an endurance pace a human is going to get, at the very least, 8 steps on an in/out cycle (4 in, 4 out). as long as you can run fast enough to keep them in sight, which is fairly doable, you can get 'em

this weekend is the western states 100 mile race. the winner will cover that distance probably in 14:30, though it's going to be pretty hot for the last ~30 miles which is also the most runnable part of that course, so it could get pretty tough.

they should put some deer out there

They say that in pre-contact, ecologically intact North America, people only had to do about 15 hours of work a week to survive, back when New England looked like Alaska and there were salmon runs in every coastal stream, deer and elk everywhere, etc. The means of production in the global market capitalist system becomes an end unto itself.

whenever i put my trash in the trash chute, i fire the bags down that hole and hope they recently took the trash out so it makes a loud bang. that's how i have fun these days.

I like putting shit in there like shoes and hearing them banging off the sides for the first few floors before they disappear into the void.
