I have addictive tendencies (and plenty of addiction in the family) which is why I never got into drinking and all that, but it materializes in other ways. Pretty much anything can trigger that dopamine release...food, video games, shopping, etc. It works against me when I pick the wrong thing...food for example and how I ended up weighing like 320 at one point, vs my current fit ess addiction which has me down to 234 and in the best shape of my life.
I am a very compulsive person and also self destructive and self hating so being an addict was an easy move. It's been a much harder move to deal with the underlying issues and cope in a healthier way
