Prior to reviewing this album I had heard their previous efforts, but for some reason I had only listened to them a few times which left no impression on me whatsoever. Digging out the old recordings I decided to reaquaint myself with them before setting forth on this review.

Touché Amoré plays melodic hardcore with some Post-hardcore feel to it. The music is aggressive without losing melody and is no nonsense straight forward songs. This album really feels like a continuation of their previous efforts yet it stands apart on its own merits. The style hasn't change nor has their sound but the songs have a different feel to them with more of the post-hardcore sound.

The vocalist has the perfect screaming voice for this genre. He emotes quite well without coming off like he is whining or crying. He hasn't changed his vocal style for this which is great because he is a perfect fit for this band. You feel his emotions throughout.

After listening to the old material again, I can see the differences as well as the similarities. This album made me appreciate this band much more. They are well played, emotional songs that are a pleasure to listen to. The production is much better which makes a huge difference as well.

Touché Amoré has managed to have a more mature sound without sounding completely different. They are maturing quite well, while making the same music they always have. This makes me admire them even more. After hearing this album I will eagerly await new releases and make it a point to see them when they come to town. If you haven't had a chance to check these guys out, this is a wonderful place to start.
