When I first heard of Vomit Assault I immediately thought of gore grind. Figured this was going to be super fast unintelligible vocals with a blast beat. To my surprise they turned out to be a melodic crust band. I had the good fortune to be able to book these guys on their way through Tucson. I got a true feeling for these guys instead of a studio feel for them. Live they were amazing. A lot of energy and even with some technical difficulties they managed to play a really great set. Of course I had to purchase their record. I was not going to let what I assumed was going to be a great record pass me by.

The record itself is limited to 500 copies. It is a one-sided record with their logo screen printed on the other side in true DIY fashion. The only complaint I had with this record is the fact that there are only two songs here albeit two six minute songs.

I ended up getting a digital copy to listen to while on the road and honestly listened to these two songs over and over. For a crust band they are catchy and had many changes to not feel stagnant or repetitive. I really could not get enough. The vocals are gruff and fit perfectly with the music. It brought together the whole sound completing the crust assault on your ears.

This quite possibly one of the best records out this year. A band you should definitely keep your eyes on. I highly recommend picking up this record. Definitely not something you will want to miss out on.
