The short: One of the heaviest albums of the year. In a sentence: This is incredible heavy slamming brutality.

The long: Ingesting Putridity is the debut full length for the Baltimore, MD quartet. The album DOES NOT fuck around. It is balls to the wall, pedal to the floor brutal death metal. They formed a good while before releasing this album. I’m glad they go through their setbacks and caught the attention of Amputated Vein Records because the debut is VERY good.

The album never really lets up. That’s an awesome thing, but also unfortunately a partial setback. Each song is packed to the brim with riffs, tasteful technicality, and disgusting slamming breaks. That’s should be all good right? Yes, but there is some times too much of it. Some of the songs tend to go just a little bit too long. If they cut out some of the fat I feel the songs would be more to the point and absolutely hit harder. We have 9 songs in almost 45 minutes, but those 45 feel slightly longer.

That’s really the only slight drawback and I have to be a strong emphasis on slight. It’s one of the best debuts in a long time as well as one of the best death metal releases of the year. The whole thing is just so massive sounding. Great musicianship meets great production. Forming around 4 years ago and taking their time forming a solid lineup and writing great songs really paid off. Listen to the end of Necrocoprophagia; it has to be one of the heaviest parts EVER! This debut has rocketed them to the forefront of the death metal world. If they could write a follow up that trims off some excess while keeping the musicianship as tight and brutal they very well could write one of the best modern brutal death metal albums.
