I've had this album for almost a month now. I keep going back to it unsure what I want to say about it. For those that don't know, this is the band featuring Nasum's drummer. It's not straight up grind, but more of a modern take on early Swedish death metal.
Each time I went back to The Doomsayer's Call, their 3rd full length, I realized not a whole lot has stuck with me. That said, each time I did enjoy the album, but nothing was really amazing so to speak. It's just solid start to finish. As I said, they mix Swedish death metal with more modern elements (mainly in a clean production). At times I hear Grave and often Bloodbath. Anders can still blast like a motherfucker.
The main problem I found on my multiple listens it the album is too long. 13 tracks in 45 minutes may not seem terribly long, but it definitely drags in spots. I feel if they had shortened the songs or cut some out it would have had more of an impact. It is rather solid as I said, but still, not highly memorable. Just good death metal that had my bobbing my head along to the grooves.
