Review:
Let me start by saying I have been listening to converge for years, and have loved almost every song they've ever written. Jane Doe was a fantastic previous effort too. And now let me get to the part where I'll piss people off: this record is boring, and just seems like it lacks any of the energy, innovation, and originality of their previous albums. I know a lot of people blindly follow bands... but I refuse to do so. This was a very poor way to follow up Jane Doe.

There are a few parts that get me excited, and the one song on here that I do like alot is "Hanging Moon". It includes a whole range of tempo and emotion, the way I'm used to with them. Most of the rest of the songs completely devoid of forward momentum, they all kind of run into one another.

I guess my main problem with this CD is the fact that Converge has always been a band to progress musically from album to album without losing any of their power or style, simply adding to it. I guess this is what happens when a band set their standards high and therefore so do the fans.... anything less than brilliant is rejected. This album showed no progression from Jane Doe at all, nothing that made my jaw drop whatsoever. Compared to most other "hardcore" bands around right now, this is still a great album. But from this band that has continued to keep their fans in awe... this is a dissapointment.

I know a lot of people are going to bitch and moan about my review...as usual... but this is my opinion, if you don't like it, make a website of your own so you can post your reviews, instead of insulting me and saying I don't know anything about music because I don't like something by a band you like. Deal with it.

I love the last part of this review. But in all seriousness, I think they "jumped the shark" with Jane Doe. It's just really not possible to make a better album, and they'll always be trying to

i downloaded two songs of the new cd and they were ok, but of course they don't compare to anything they did before signing to epitaph
