Review:
I have been waiting with folded hands patiently for this amazing band to release another album. And that time has come, and it's like Christmas in my Itunes. They refuse to dissapoint me, and in fact, only seem to mature with age.
The sullen gray overtones return with even more depression embroidered into every song than ever before. The lyrics match the darkness conveyed by the music, and the vocals have improved even more. In their first album, they had very little clean vocals, and an overcast droaning dreary atmosphere, but in the past two albums including this one, they seem to be a little more melody driven and a little less sludgy.
At first compared to Katatonia endlessly, they have risen above that label by rising above the sound and crushing your soul and heart with songs that will tear the world asunder.
My favorite song is "I Am Complete" - the clean vocals that are usually death blows for other bands only compliment the downpour of emotional wreckage.
I could seriously rave on and on about this band, but peruse their mp3s below and you will see that the music speaks for itself. I have been listening to this band religiously for years, and it has helped me through the darkest time in my life, with this release they seem to never stop writing music that speaks to my soul, and I will always be a fan.
i enjoy the clean vocals a lot more than the death vocals. i would love these guys so much if they didn't use the death vocals. the same goes with swallow the sun. the music is great, but i find that the growling takes away from the music instead of complimenting it like singing does.
