Review:
You're probably expecting me to trash this CD, but I have to admit it's not nearly as annoying as some of it's counterparts. The screaming is completely unnecessary, but other than that it's not too bad. The vocalist has some pretty good chemistry with the backup vocals, they are pretty good at harmonizing their voices together. The other problem I have with this is that the vocalist's voice gets repetitive at times, as well as the riffs. Their sound is a poppy-post punk type sound, not unlike most of the bands Victory has been signing over the past few years. But I will say they have writing catchy songs down pat, and I'm sure their already large fan base will grow with the release of this album.
I've heard a lot better, and a lot worse. I would be lying to say that I think this album is absolutely terrible, because it didn't offend or please my ears to any greater extent than most of the other albums I get, regardless of genre. Perhaps if they stick around for a few more years their sound will mature and they will be able to write some better music with that underlying talent level they possess.
I think you summed it up pretty well chris, from what I've heard there is nothing to get into a fus over on this CD. They write really catchy songs, which I am always a fan of, and there albums on a whole have more good songs than bad. But the riffs do seem to be similar from song to song.
i am trying to have a new approach on my negative reviews... pointing out at least a few good things on each of the albums i think as a whole aren't really that great. some bands, however, have really nothing good about them... thats a whole different story.
