Review:
It's not often a singer/songwriter can capture emotions like this without being sobby or complaining. This album, from start to finish, is one of the finest quality albums I've heard from a solo artist in years. He has help from his old ex-bandmates and additional musicians a little bit here and there but all the vocals and guitar playing is him.
He is Irish, and lives his music possily more than most musicians out there nowadays. Apparently he has been so poor that he had to steal food just to survive. His hardships translate into some of the most soulful work around. He says of his music: "There is no choice.I have to sing and write.it's like a sickness, a beautiful sickness I am in love with. "
If I was to compare him to anyone it would be Jeff Buckley of course, one of my favorite all time musicians. The high pitches he hits are amazing. He has great range in his vocals, and his lyrics are gritty, intelligent and true. He also does regular art as well, making him quite a well rounded individual.
If you like you music watered down and commercialised, this is not for you. but if you like deep honest music, you should really check out the mp3's posted and buy this album.
