Here is a band that it is impossible to be in a bad mood while listening to. Only several bands have been able to achieve that status. Weezer, The Ramones, Gorilla Biscuits. and now this band that will leave most people scratching their heads and tapping their toes at the same time. Sure, there's a language barrier, as most of the songs are in Finnish, but they do provide translations as well as the meaning of the songs.

How can I best describe the music to those who haven't heard? Remember the Man Show? I mean, the good version with Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Corolla? Remember all the songs The Fox would sing? It's kinda like that, but with fast drums, loud guitars, and lots of booze. Kinda like up-tempo punk-influenced humppa metal with rough but melodic singing, accordion and violins, lyrics about drinking and living in the woods. and drinking. In fact, lots of their songs revolve heavily around alcohol. I think fans of Flogging Molly or Dropkick Murphys would really dig these guys just for the music alone.

This album is a little longer than it's predecessors, though the songs are much more diverse. Theres more than enough fast-paced buzzsaw numbers on there, like the opening track, Tapporauta, an instrumental that will have you practically doing the Riverdance called Shall We Take A Turn?, and even a song that could pass for a ballad. All in all, I'd say that if you're a Korpiklaani fan to begin with, you will like how they expand on their formula here while staying true to their roots. If you haven't heard them, well, who can say? It's not as insta-catchy as Tervaskanto or Tales Along This Road, but it's still pretty damned good and worth a listen or two.

yep, tervaskanto had some alright songs on it, but overall was pretty lackluster. I like this one quite a bit.
