Review:
I popped this cd in for this review and that is the last time I will ever listen to it. Eden's Demise has very little going for them honestly. The vocals, on the contrary, are fucking awesome and I'm drawing a blank when it comes to comparisson but trust me, they're powerful and stand out more than a ku klux klan member at a meek millz show.
The problem with eden's demise on this cd isn't so much as the quality of the recording (which is sub-par) but the quality of the song writing. They have some really cool parts but they are lost in a sea of boring, generic riffs preceding and succeeding them. That's also another fault in this band's song-writing formula: that their songs are a bunch of parts just thrown together with no real seemlessness or continuity, which then in turn makes the songs sound sloppy and effortless. If I could describe the sound they're going for, it'd be the beatdown sound that is taking europe by storm and has been for pretty much almost the last decade, but not quite as blatantly as the rest of their peers... Which is a plus (thank god).
The recording, as I stated above, is sub-par. It comes off kinda flat and makes the songs themselves that much more... Boring. Even the bass and percussion had no real definition to it. I'm a fan of recordings that aren't overproduced. I'm a fan of raw-sounding shit. However, this just sounds like it was recorded in a recording studio that either 1.) Didn't quite have the knowledge/equipment/capabilities of a better sound... Or 2.) Just didn't give a shit.
Overall, this is a cd I honestly wouldn't recommend to anyone. I hope in later releases that they find a better option for recording and we see a massive improvement in the song-writing aspect of the band and a better formula... Which would NOT be part + more parts = songs.
