Similar Bands: almost any band i was in circa 9th grade
Review:
I received this album in what I like to call my "Jersey Package". It came along with 3 other discs from bands that seem to be in it for all the wrong reasons. Dead Pegasus might not have been the best of the 4 but I can see these kids have a genuine love for music and gave it an honest shot.
It's hard for me to put this band into a specific genre. At times you can hear an old school punk hardcore influence in vain of bands like Mouthpiece but at other times they sound very grunge/garage rock inspired. At times they even reminded me slightly of a beginners take on Rage Against The Machine. It seems to me that this may be the first time the band members have ever recorded something of their own. The entire album felt like it was something that I did back in my early days of high school. Back when my friends and I were writing songs without much direction. We'd take all of our favorite bands and try to write material that resembled out talented counterparts only to end up with something that barely resembled the music we were paying tribute too.
The record is very elementary in style but for some reason I couldn't give this band a harsh review. Like I stated before it seems that they gave it an honest go and have potential to better their craft with another recording. I'll consider this record the rough draft of what is to come but I can't really recommend this to anyone outside of their circle of friends.
