Amputated - Wading through Rancid Offal

Hailing from the UK, Amputated are now famously known throughout underground metal for their stint on the BBC documentary “Singing with the Enemy” where they collaborated with UK pop ground Fallen Angelz (just youtube search amputated singing with the enemy), they seem to want to come back to make the world know they’re a legit band. The documentary really pigeonholed themselves as a typical and stereotypical group of metalheads. This album tries to show otherwise.
Wading through Rancid Offal is 9 tracks of brutal and slamming death metal. It really is just your usual fanfare for the genre. However, that doesn’t mean it’s bad. It is above standard boring slamming death. At first listen I found myself just listening to it as if it were background noise with some parts jumping out at me here and though. Over the next days those parts really stuck with me and I would find them going through my head. The more I listened to this, the more it grew on me. So, the album is a grower. I found the few tracks in the middle to be the strongest on the album. Perhaps that is not the type of album you want in this genre where there are plenty of bands doing similar styles and you want to hit the listener over the head immediately.
The production is really solid. I do however wish that some of the guitar parts had more note clarification as it gets a bit fuzzy from time to time. Another thing I could have done without are the samples that intro every song. Some are fitting and/or funny, but on repeat listens it got old. Overall, this album is a step up from their last release and continued strong step forward. The last release had more grind elements and this one went for a stronger “slam” approach. It succeeds in being quite heavy, but it’s nothing that’s standing far and above the rest of the genre. That’s not to say that the album on a whole isn’t an enjoyable listen.

I've done one other review. I reviewed the last Blasphemous album on here.

they definitely sound like a sevared band, which is awesome haha. i haven't heard the album before this, but i'd agree this is pretty middle of the road for the genre. i'll listen to it when i get tired of all the other stuff i listen to but don't really know what else to listen to.

It does really grow on you. There's some tracks in the middle with groove parts that get stuck in my head.
