"Guero" by Beck

I've just really gotten into this album. I was totally into Mellow Gold and Odelay, dug all the small indie-label shit he did, and dug Mutations as well as a sort of side project. I really loathed Midnite Vultures, and I really did try to listen to that damn album enough to like it. It kind of put me off from buying Sea Change (which a friend burned me, and I haven't gotten around to listening to yet) but Guero really got under my skin.
Beck's writing is a lot better when it feels a lot closer to having been written with a guitar, and none of the tracks on Midnite Vultures had that feel. So, I feel a lot more like I'm listening to actual songs than sort of wierd pointless dance pieces. This album's a lot more solid, with lyrics that are actually about something as well. E-Pro's been getting a lot of radio play (not to mention MTV play, so at least that's four minutes of something on that channel I could stomach) but I think most of the tracks on the disc could be singles. And that's saying a lot.
Anyone else heard it? I'm surprised there's no thread about it.
I like it but I think he's done better, such as Odelay
Yeah, it's not as tight an album as Odelay by far. But, it's better than some of his more recent shit.
Sorry, ChrisNJ--I tried to search and see if there were any other posts on it on this forum, but I didn't see any--I guess they delete 'em.
