*I don't think non-vegans/vegetarians are all stupid, its just that most people I encounter, who think I'm stupid for being vegan, say some really stupid and ignorant shit. I am not saying I am better than anyone, neither!

- "Wait, so why don't you eat like fish or seafood? Fish can't feel pain!"

Fish or any other sea animals are living things and just like almost every other living thing, it can feel pain. That is just an old wives-tale.

- "God put animals here for use to eat, thats why they're here...It says it in the bible!"

First off, I am not going to debate the existence of God here (that's another topic for another day). I believe man evolved thousands or even millions of years after most species that are on earth, so I don't see why they'd be "put here" for our exploitation. I went through 12 years of Catholic school and with all of my bible study, off the top of my head, I cannot recall any verse or scripture that says anything about God putting animals here for us to eat. What I do remember is that it is said in the bible that they were here for us to take care of. Besides, even Pope John Paul II, before his death, spoke out against the cruelty and evil about factory farms and their treatment of animals!

- "Deer are over populating and they need to be hunted, so they don't keep hitting cars!"

I think that humans are way to over populated and are huge contributors to the destruction of the planet, than deer are, so why can't I go out and bag me a few human suckers?! It's an ignorant way to think. Also, deer don't hit cars..cars hit deer! (We like to make up little deceptive words to make it sound less harsh, like "road-kill", I'm sorry, but the road didn't kill them..the car did!) Maybe if we could end "sub-urban sprawl" and destroying the animals homes only to put up a mall, then maybe they wouldn't be "hitting cars" look ing for a new place to live.

- "..stupid deer just sat their staring at the head lights!"

That would be because thats it's natural defense and instinct. A deer, when it hears and or feels the presence of a natural predator, it's defense is to remain still and blend in with the environment hoping the predator will loose sight of it. So, when it sees a loud, big, noisy car coming towards it it uses its instinct unfortunately and just sits there hoping it will be undetected! It's sad, but definitely not stupid..I can name a few of my natural instincts that seem just as stupid.

- "...Like I think hunting for sport is wrong, but if you hunt and use all the animal it's ok. I mean why waste the meat!?"

Yeah, hunting for sport is completely retarded. It's not really a sport if the other team doesn't know they're playing!!! Sitting in the cold pre-dawn hours in a field or in a tree high off the ground in full camo staring into a scope a half a mile away at a defenseless and harmless fawn getting some breakfast and then (as most every moron on the OLN channel that I've seen) saying "Wow!..What a beautiful animal...[BANG!!!]", is not a sport at all! To quote H2O, "..I just don't see the reward, but no matter how you slice it, killing is a cowardice sport!" ...Oh, yeah its an animal, not "game"!
Another thing, so according to this, if I witness someone being shot and killed that it is not ok to burry the person because hey..why waste the meat?!

- "You need the calcium in milk to build strong bones and women who are pregnant especially need it and you need the protein in meat to build muscle.."

This is true, calcium DOES build strong bones. The calcium in milk, however contains a highly concentration of animal protein and according to a Harvard University study, the consumption of milk over a course of a long period of time, actually can lead to osteoporosis because it leeches off the calcium already present in your bones. Addressing the issue of pregnant women, I have never come across anything saying that c

if consumption of milk over a long period of time led to osteoporosis, I don't even need to go into how many ridiculous numbers of people would have osteoporosis. most people I've known that have had osteoporosis didn't include milk in their diet at all except for cereal.

maybe if I witness a murder someday I'll take it to my house and somehow cut it up and store it in my freezer without anyone being suspicious or confused about having a body in my house or thinking I murdered them if they realized what it was. I mean, why call the police so they can catch the person who killed them when you can eat them instead of letting their families and loved ones know what happened to them?

vegans say stupid things too, and I'm not denying that there's dumb things said to them by non-vegans either.

Of course, all my life, I've heard these kinds of things. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
I'd like to add a couple of things to what you said. Anytime a deer has ever been in the road when I was driving, it always did try to get out of the way, so they must be learning. I only had one close incounter and that was when the deer couldn't stop and came barreling down a steep hill, it skidded to a stop, and so did I, and I moved to the other side of the road(luckily nothing was coming), and together we stopped from colliding. Of course people do get hit by cars too. The thing is they are not left to rot on the side of the road, as this disturbs me esp. when I see cats and dogs left. I mean you would think someone would move their pets off the road. I also live in an area where hunting is popular and deer usually start darting in the road when there are hunters chasing them around. Otherwise they usually walk. I also drive slower at night to give them a chance to get out of the road though, because the lights startle and blind them.

on the subject of pets in the road, I always think the same thing when I see them darting in front of a car.. "why doesn't their stupid owner keep them in the house, blah blah blah" and then my dog gets out and runs off all the damn time and I realize people can't always help it, haha.

Yeah, and you know I keep my cats indoors and one time one got out, and got hit and killed. Never got out before. First time he got out and was killed, and I was told that the person swerved to hit him. I wished I knew who did it, it would have killed them. I was only gone like 2 hours, some how the door got open. Never happened before.

...so pretty much I know if my cats get out they're done for. Just because some asshole feels cats don't deserve to live.

The study was funded by the National Dairy Council, which was conprised of 2 groups of women and it showed that the women whose diet contained milk and other lactose lost bone at twice the rate of the women in the group whose diet excluded dairy.

To what you said about the "ridiculous amount of people" who would have the disease, this is what the National Osteoporosis Foundation says about how many people have it:

"In the U.S., 10 million individuals are estimated to already have the disease and almost 34 million more are estimated to have low bone mass, placing them at increased risk for osteoporosis.

Of the 10 million Americans estimated to have osteoporosis, eight million are women and two million are men."

So there are ridiculous amounts of people who have it and who are predicted to get osteoporosis!

If I was killed (by accident), I wouldn't care if someone ate my carcass. But I wouldn't want to be hunted down and shot at, or killed for food. I don't agree with hunting or eating meat at all, but if people are going to do that, anyway, they shouldn't do it for fun, sport, or torture the animals. I mean I have nothing but malice for someone that kills a deer just to kill it. There is alot of people that don't even eat deer meat, but they hunt them. I used to watch this beautiful albino deer all the time, and I heard that a hunter killed it, and threw it in the river. That's how sick this world has become. Whatever happened to live and let live? The game commition finds alot of deer with their antlers cut off too, just laying there rotting.

so you answered the part about why hunting is lame, but what about people who are providing for themselves ? not hunting for sport but to eat as opposed to going to a deli etc. or are you just against everything and anything meat ... just curious as to what your opinion on that part is.

I mean that we, as humans, have come so far with technology and intelligence that we don't need to eat me to survive anymore and I think that we have been given this big brain for a reason, so lets use it and choose not to be apart of taking lives to satisfy taste buds and habit.

So is this stupid?

I like eating meat because I think it tastes good.

I like hunting becuase it ISN'T sitting aiming a gun at a FAWN a half mile away, saying that it's beautiful and then killing it.

I don't think that animals were put on this earth for us to eat, but I think that we evolved as omnivores and we can't change that on a whim and expect our bodies to adapt merely becuase we want them to.

I don't have any problems with sXe people or vegans on the one condition that they don't think I'm dumb for not agreeing with their views, just as I don't think they're dumb for choosing to live their lives the way they do.

Technology can bring us to a point that we don't have to eat meat to survive anymore but I don't think that that is a valid point for not eating meat. By that reasoning none of us would ever have to have sex anymore to have childern because of modern technology, but do any of you really want to go through the rest of your lives never getting laid, even though that would cause the spread of some really terrible diseases to virtually stop?

Humans are the most dangerous animals on earth becuase we had to make up for our comparitivly weak bodies by developing a ruthless spirit and intelegence. And becuase of that, all of your technology that makes you able to survive without eating meat was concieved. So if humans were never ruthless mudering apes this conversation wouldn't even be possible because we would all still probably be hunter/gatherers living in small tribes. (On a side note, the greatest leaps in technology and human advancement came when we were at our most violent and ruthless...that's how eveloution works...if there is no conflict to push a species, it will either stagnate or die out.)

Animals kill each other all the time, and predator animals would kill us too if they hadn't leared from experience that humans were usually the top predator.

I don't think I'm unethical just becuase it doen't bother me that animals die for my meals.

Harvesting, or killing if that sounds better to you, deer DOES help them in some cases. Recently there was an outbreak of cronic wasting disease in the deer and elk populations in the upper midwest and hundreds of deer were killed by law enforcment and "volunteers" (hunters that were given special licenses to hunt out of season and take more deer than usually allowed). This aided in stopping the spread of the disease.

well that's enough for now...i'll stop before i get too boring
