everyone has really weird ways of going about this...and i'm mostly talking about someone you really love or loved before and had something serious with...

stay friends?
do you just ignore them?
make yourself numb?
try to hold on even if it kills you?
burn their belongings?

it all depends on the situation.

For the most part i'm friendly with all my exes. Now i don't hang out with them or anything but if we see eachother we'll say hello and see how the other one is doing for a few minutes and then move on. I only have one ex that i will more than likely never be on good terms with ever again.

And each breakup was different. Like with my last ex, the last month we were together we drifted so far apart that we didn't even see eachother during those 4 weeks and it was bad to the point that she had a party and forgot to invite me. We just mutually agreed that we were not right for eachother. It took sometime to become friendly again but normally you aren't chums with your ex right after you break up. The one before that ended in dramatic fashion when i caught her on cheat number 7. She's the one i'll never be friends with again. The one before that was another mutual agreement. The only anger i had towards her was that she moved on so quickly. She was dating some "off the boat" Irish guy like 3 days later.

It depends on the situation, but typically I'll break up with them and we won't talk for a little bit (just to get used to not being together/talking all of the time), and then become friends.

It depends. I am still on good terms with one and by that i mean we speak often, but the others I either don't talk to or were so bad for me that I pretty much cut them off completely when I left them. I am surprisingly great at acting like long spans of time never really happened.

i'm calm whether i'm doing the breaking up or i was getting dumped.

i'm only friends with one of them because i don't see any of the others. i would say "hey," to the middle school/high school/on again/off again boyfriend though. even though he hurt me the worst and acted like a douch about it. high school was a long time ago so i just don't care.

I'm a TERRIBLE breaker upper. I usually just piss the other person off so bad that they break it off with me so I dont have to do it.

i only every did the dumping once and it was because i got cheated on, so that was ugly, obviously

but the times i've been dumped im usually just really sad about it for a while but never really held any ill will toward the other person, at least not for long. im not on bad terms with anyone i've ever dated.

typically if i get broken up with i completely remove that person from my life. meaning get rid of things they gave me or things that remind me of them. out of sight out of mind. I like to be get over things quick and usually can/do. I hate being miserable and sad. so the quicker i can get on with my life the better. : )

when i break up with someone, i am upfront and honest with why i dont want to be with them anymore and leave it at that. if i break up with someone ive always been over it for a while so once strings are cut im done and fine. i dont have to get rid of things that remind me of them because im already over it.

just about every ex of mine ive stayed friends with so id say thats a good sign.

i distance myself for a while and if i feel the need to see them again, i'll make it happen. otherwise, we just go on with our lives.

I let it drag out for a bit, to the point where it's a mutual breakup. Maybe next time I'll get my act together and end it promptly when it really does need to be ended.

get drunk, tell her i want her out of my life , she says no, starts playing with my piece until i change my mind, i stay with her. Repeat this cycle as many times as it takes. But everytime i try to leave i'm more and more miserable and become a shittier and shittier boyfriend which causes her to be pissier and pissier and give me more shit so i'm an even shittier boyfriend. eventually this painful cycle plays itself out

try to stay friends in some way shape or form but it never works. I've noticed girls are commonly more "ignore" breaker uppers.

I usually just cut them off completely for a while. But after long enough, they'll usually get in touch with me somehow and I won't care anymore so we'll become friendly. Never hanging out again or nothing, but at least saying "whats up?" every once in a while.
