If you're doing day trips then OC, NJ is the only acceptable answer. Closest, cleanest, no beach tags needed south of the boardwalk (22nd) but be on the lookout for the young buls making there rounds on the beach.

(I know you said no oc,nj but it's the only place I go for day trips)

otherwise it would be avalon or sea isle city.

sea isle, not much of a boardwalk (not really a boardwalk at all) but its clean and relaxing

i don't like the beach, which is lucky for me, because the seaside in england is as depressing as it gets.
the closest one to be is southport, which inspired morrissey to write 'everyday is like sunday.'

i've set-up shore trips pretty much every weekend this summer. all to different beaches, all with different friends. i can not get enough. fuck the boardwalk, fuck the food. it's all about cleanliness and swim-ability for me :)

OCMD is clean and probably has the most to do but it's 3 hours away. The Jersey places listed in the thread are about half the distance.

I didn't mention OCMD due to the thread title.
