How come his shoes now are all made of leather? (with the exception of the XL3 and the Classics) Is he not vegan anymore?

Because full grain leather is superior for skate shoe construction. Its true. My leather Lakai's have held up WAYYYY better than any non-leather skate shoes I've ever owned.

However, I don't know the real answer to your question.

suede grips a hell of a lot better

according to his wiki is says he stopped being vegan after following it for some time.
