Damn this is quite a lineup, could be promising.

Shrinebuilder will enter a Hollywood, CA studio today with Toshi Kasai (Big Business) to begin recording their debut full-length for Neurot Recordings. The project features Wino (St. Vitus), Scott Kelly (Neurosis), Al Cisneros (Om, Sleep), and Dale Crover (Melvins) and their new, self-titled album is slated for a summer release.

Scott Kelly has announced that he will report live from the studio beginning no later than Saturday, January 10th. Look for guest blogs by other members of Shrinebuilder as well as possible in-studio photos from the band.

Al heard a room mic from the mixing booth asked me "is that Neurosis ?" I said "no man, that's your band, I sing in your band, and so does Wino" .

I get the feeling it won't quite be the sum of it's parts, but I'll be on the edge of my seat nonetheless. anything with a rhythm section of Dale Crover and Al Cisneros cannot possibly be shitty.

al said though that it would be more of a project than a new band, deciphering that i believe it will have elements of every band.

i said earlier today i'm expecting a dirtier holy mountain with droney om/neurosis parts

the vocals and their placement will be what will make this sink or swim

I agree. I just hope it doesn't turn up any post-rock elements with Scott Kelly writing a lot, even though I love Neurosis I feel like him and to a lesser extent Wino can be sort of hit or miss.

the fact that they threw this album together really quickly kind of worries me, but then i just look at the line up again and they go away
