it's 104 degrees outside today and i see a kid looking no older than 23 holding a cardboard sign next to a highway exit that says "lost my job, newborn baby, anything helps"

i felt even worse that i had no money to spare to this guy

really though it was right off the 101 and guadalupe which is not even a bad area...i felt terrible for the guy

i see those guys all the time. chances are they're junkies or worse. also, panhandlers that sit by the highway all day make a decent amount of money. at least the ones i've talked to do.

this kid didn't look like a junkie, you can usually tell with those guys. he was just a broke ass dude, decently dressed, who probably just can't find a job. i was unemployed for something like 6 months.
