I'm trying to help my dad hook up a wireless network with his computer but I don't use pc's so it's pretty greek to me.

He's running Windows Vista or 7 (I forget), with dsl. And we're trying to hook up the network with a Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router. He says the problem is that AOL keeps interfering with the setup and the little amber blinking light never goes to green, whatever the hell that means. I haven't tried the setup myself yet, so I'm just going by what he told me. And before anyone even bothers, he refuses to get rid of AOL.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd love to hear them because I promised to tinker with it Sunday.

i do not know how good AOL help people are but your best bet might be just calling them. If you can not get that light to go green you will be SOL until you do.....and i would think they could walk you thru that and figure out what the issue is.

i know Verizon has helped me with things like this in the past. They usually will just take over your PC (with fastsupport or something) and do it themselves......maybe AOL will do the same thing?

my parents also have verizon.. but wouldn't linksys be the one to call since it's the router we're having trouble with? i was hoping i could figure it out without having to sit on the phone with customer service. they have no idea what they're doing most of the time.

not sure.....i guess it is worth a shot.

again when i just did this with Verizon it only took me like 10 minutes because i could not get my new laptop to connect to the wireless router.....the dude just took control of the PC and fixed it.
