my parent's will be married 25 years this october and i want to do something nice for them. anyone have any decent ideas? initially i wanted to throw them a party at this club near their place, but they literally just did that less than a month ago (family & friend gathering), so it seems a little redundant to me.
i need to stick to a reasonable budget too. my last resort idea is to give them a romantic weekend at a cabin, but that's all i've come up with thus far. this is the type of thing they already do annually, so it really is a last resort idea.

Maybe not as a main gift, but perhaps you could make them a fancy photo album. You could ask other relatives and friends of your parents if they have old pictures of them together and so on and so forth.

I would love to do this, but they aren't "that" kind of people. they'd be like "this is great danielle, but what were you thinking?" haha. the dinner part is a good idea. i would like to add something to it though. i get them gift cards for nice restaurants all the time.

if i have some time to throw something like this together it's a great idea. or maybe just one nice photo with some accompaniments? this might be a good thing to throw in with the cabin if i go that route. i can get the cabin early and go before they get there and set up a chilled bucket of wine and something else maybe.

that sounds decent right?

If you could get your hands on a really great old picture that would have some nostalgic value for both of them, get a good print in black and white and put a really nice frame on it. I imagine they'd love that.

i stayed at this hotel in Berlin MD last summer.

We went to a wedding in Ocean City Maryland over Memorial weekend and we got a room here last minute. I think it might have been $120. Anyway. Really beautiful, old hotel in Berlin MD. There isn't much in the town but what is there is really good (restaurants/shops) and its about 15 minutes from OC MD.

We have been meaning to go back every since and we are not into the whole small town thing.

Also this is the hotel and town where they filmed "Runaway Bride"

that hotel looks great. i'll bookmark it. my dad has neuropathy in his legs and can't handle extensive walking, so i want to keep any getaway a relaxing one requiring little on foot travel and outside expenses.

cruise is WAY out of my budget.

i gotcha. just so you know. this town is like 100ft in any direction around this hotel. the hotel is literally the middle of the downtown and if you walk 100 ft in any direction you are out of the "downtown" district. we laughed at how small the town was because everything is within spitting distance.

we had a good time for a couple of days. it was better then the wedding. if you do decide to go this route. the restaurant in the hotel and the restaurant behind the hotel called the Globe Theater were some of the best meals i've had in years. The Globe showed old Charlie Chaplin silent films in the background. great place.

for my dad's 50th birthday, my mom took him to Pocono to drive a... stock car? that's what they're called right? well, anyways, he had a blast.

thanks for the ideas! the toughest part of coming up with gift ideas for my parents is that they're polar opposites. in 25 years of marriage the only thing they found they have in common is mexico and cabin'ing/boating at the Finger Lakes in NJ. serious case of opposites attract.

if my dad liked wine i would definitely look into the vineyard. mom is a huge wino.
