Anyone else play/playing?

I still have RE5 collecting dust because I haven't gotten around to playing it yet. I heard 6 is really good, but my only gripe is that the RE games are starting to feel like modified Call Of Duty type of games. A lot of the tension and creepy atmosphere that you experienced in the old games seems to have dwindled away considerably.

I haven't played an re game since zero on GameCube. I like the faster combat setup in 6, but I don't like that there aren't any puzzles. Only completed one campaign though.

Playing it co-op with a buddy and just finished the Leon campaign. If I wasn't playing with a friend I wouldn't bother playing this game as it is the worse in the series hands down. The constant quick time events are annoying, and I think the story is jumbled mess. Too many characters now and not enough story to care about any of them aside from the major ones like Chris and Leon.

I've played a few stages of the Leon campaign.

better/worse than raccoon city? should i spend the money and get 6?

The controls and the camera mechanics are massively broken. My friend let me borrow it and I gave it back the next day. By far the worst in the series.

It still plays better than any game before 4, but that isn't saying much.

Thats like comparing a fighter jet to a bi-plane, though. The games before 4 were very clunky, but they were also from a different generation. I think the camera issues are inexcusable for a finished product. Hopefully they issue some patches for them and make the game playable... for me anyway.

Even though the actual mechanics of playing the games were clumsy and strange, playing RE1 and RE2 and Silent Hill were all still incredible experiences because of the tension and the puzzles (both physical and mental) you had to get past. That's where I have issues with the way these games are heading towards more traditional shooters instead of focusing on them being horror-based games. If RE5 wasn't at my boy's pawn shop and only cost me a buck, I probably wouldn't have ever bothered getting it at all. But I keep holding onto hope that they will get back on track and return to the roots of the game and bring back the stress-filled tension and honest scares that made the originals so great.
