Montreal's Black Love is a band that has gotten my attention in recent months. Their mix of post hardcore and rockish riffs really appeals to me. The rough production encapsulates the band's vibe very well, and the material presented over 9 minutes leaves a great impression. A dirty snare roll kicks things off on opener, "Summertime/Chinamen & Malays" while feedback and guitar leads pull everything together. The rough, yet melodic vocals are fresh and command presence. I liken the sound of Black Love to fellow Canadians Single Mothers, in the sense that they both play punk with a nice party rock feel to it. This is music you blast while drinking with your friends. I expect great things from these guys, but I may be biased considering my band is touring up to Pouzza Fest with them this May. But hey, its definitely worth checking out. Support DIY
